Five Tracks, Unlimited Possibilities

All historical topics related to education are welcome. Submitted proposals will generally be organized into the following tracks, but topics are by no means limited to these areas.
Distant Shores, Local Impacts

Pre-American and international histories of education — systems, philosophies, and exchanges that shaped local American schooling.

Ways of Knowing

Indigenous, local community, and internationally influenced knowledge systems, language revitalization, decolonial approaches, and ethical collaboration.

Guided by the Lamp of Experience

Influential thinkers, teachers, reformers, and innovators — biographical studies, intellectual histories, and archival recoveries.

Amendments and Acts

Laws, constitutional amendments, policies, court cases, and political movements that have shaped education and their continuing legacies.

"The Past is Prologue"

Pedagogy then, present, and future — how historical knowledge is taught, transmitted, and contested, plus innovations in teaching history today.
