The Executive Board of the Organization of Educational Historians provides thoughtful leadership and stewardship of the society’s mission. Composed of scholars from diverse institutions and backgrounds, the board guides OEH’s programs, publications, and annual conference while fostering a collegial and inclusive scholarly community.

Katherine Perrotta
President
Katherine Perrotta is an Associate Professor of Middle & Secondary Education at Mercer University. Her research on social studies education and historical empathy were published in leading journals such as The Journal of Social Studies Research, Social Studies Research and Practice, Social Education, Educational Studies, and The American Educational History Journal.

Danielle Carrier
Past President
Danielle M. Carrier is an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education in the School of Education at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her research focuses on history, policy, politics, and educational theory/practice. Her current work historicizes one historically Black D.C. public school that closed in the early twenty-first century despite its early prominence and contemporary upward trajectory in the District.

James W. Thomas
Vice President
James W. Thomas is the director of the Higher Education Student Affairs graduate program at Butler University. His primary research interest is restorative history in education. He holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a Master of Science in Social and Philosophical Studies in Education.

Glenn P. Lauzon
Executive Secretary
Glenn P. Lauzon, Professor, Indiana University Northwest, is the editor of Educating a Working Society, and author of Civic Learning through Agricultural Improvement, as well as a variety of articles on the history of vocation-related and agricultural education. His research interests also include civic education, adult learning, and informal learning.

Heather Caldwell
Associate Program Chair
Dr. Heather Caldwell is an Assistant Professor and M.Ed. Program Coordinator at Texas A&M University–Central Texas. A former K–12 teacher and instructional coach, she researches educator preparation, curriculum, history of education, and technology. She teaches graduate courses and integrates experiential learning and emerging AI into her instruction.

Samantha Bradley
Membership Coordinator
Samantha Ann Bradley is an Assistant Principal at South Forsyth Middle School (Forsyth County Schools) in Cumming, Georgia. She is a PhD candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at Mercer University (expected May 2027), with scholarly interests in curriculum politics and the growing influence of AI-driven platforms in K–8 education. Her work has appeared in the American Educational History Journal.

Benedict Adams
Program Committee Member
Dr. Benedict L. Adams is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at Mo West, as a Curricular Scholar, Education Foundations Scholar, and Multicultural Specialist. He is a graduate of Indiana University in Urban Education Studies and Teacher Education.
Dr Adams was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Certificate of Excellence from Indiana University in 2014. In 2024, he received the Certificate of Outstanding Teacher Educator from Missouri Western State University and in 2025, he received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Award for Exceptional Teaching Skills and Service to Students and the Community.
Dr Adams is the author of eleven peer-reviewed articles and two book chapters. Dr. Adam’s research interests include Teaching and Teacher Education, Learning and Instruction, Curriculum Studies, Teacher Education and Socialization, Diversity Studies, and Historical and Social Foundations of Education.
